Tuesday 15th November

Our friends from the church came in today and acted out a scene where we learnt that we had to be kind to everyone and try and include everyone in our play.

In phonics we looked at the letter y. This is one of the best letters to learn as we get to learn about yaks at the same time!  We linked where the yaks lived compared to where we live and talked about the Himalayas.  We noticed that many of the children in the class had a y at the end of the name and learnt that we use this as a different sound.

The children practised talking like Fred the frog in sounds and sounded out and spelt the words yak, yum, yet, yap.

In maths we played the game of dobble and tried to improve how quickly we could find pairs and identify 2d shapes and numerals.

Throughout the day the children have been helping to clean and sort out different areas in the classroom and outside as the weather has been so bad that we have had to bring a lot of the wooden toys under the canopy.

In RE we looked at some of the childrens previous birthday parties and we talked about what a birthday meant to everyone.  We linked the birthdays to Jesus and what the nativity story meant.

Such a lovely busy wet day!
