Tuesday 1st November

Today we had open the book assembly. Disassembly was brought to us by the church people. They told us how important it was to remember what fun being a child is. They also made us all aware of how precious each and everyone of us are. It was a lovely assembly and some members of the school got to act out some of the acting roles.

In phonics lead that the letter B. We explored the poem down the laces to the heel and around the toes. The children all had a good go at working out the difference between a letter D and a letter B and a letter P and the number nine. Because they all realise that these letters looked very similar. We explored how the capital B looks different to the lowercase letter B and many of the children called out the names of the siblings that started with the letter B.

In maths we looked at have a domino has two groups of dots.  The children use the skill called sabotaging to call out how many dots were in each group. They then explored adding two groups of numbers together. After that they practised writing the correct numeral beside the correct domino.

In the afternoon we talked about fireworks and fireworks safety. The children use the technique of using two different types of media these were wax crayons and paint to create a picture. They learnt the paint if Waterdown will not stick on top of a wax crayon and that this is very handy when trying to make pictures where the background image is needed to stay when a layer of paint is added to the top. Later on in the afternoon the children practice the song 10 fat sausages sizzling in the pan but they change the words to 10 large rockets twinkling in the sky one went pop and the other went bang.
