In celebration assembly this morning the children were all given a badge with their house colour on. These are to help the children form an identity to their house colour and to help develop a sense of belonging.
In phonics we learnt the sound /v/ and had fun sounding out the words van and vet and exploring other words that start with v.
Mrs smith then did a big check of the which sounds the children could remember and she was very impressed!
In maths we were learning a trick to counting big numbers of dots, by looking at the dors and seeing what groups we could see in the dot array, for example a five might be a group of three and a group of two. We then used this trick to count larger numbers closer to ten quickly. The children learnt that if they put a line through the items as they counted they could keep track of their counting.
This afternoon we learnt the nursery rhyme the big ship sails and learnt how to draw a sailing ship. Some of the children talked about the anchor and how that made the ship stop moving.
In the afternoon we talked about how everyone’s houses look different and how we could rebuild their houses out of blocks. We talked about how everyone has similar rooms in their homes, such as a lounge, a kitchen and bedrooms.g
Final,h we joined in with Mrs Hart and practised out Christmas songs.
