The children came into school wearing their Halloween outfits. I learnt about how to stay stay safe whilst trick or treating and what Halloween was all about. In the afternoon the children invited their parents and carers in to share Halloween art activities. There was pumpkin face making, spiderweb painting, ghost making, and different characters to make.
In phonics the children explored the letter e. I learnt the poem take off the top and scooped out the egg to help you draw the E in the correct way. The children offered different words that started with the letter E and then practised their blending by exploring all the letters that they have learnt so far and trying to speed read CVC words. The children looked at how the capital E looks very different to the lowercase letter E and they identified the children within the class that had names starting with the letter E.
In maths the children explored how to write the numerals 1 to 5. Then they proved that they could count from one to 5 and write the correct numeral.
