Tuesday 10th October

Today we had the 'Open he book' people in to deliver our harvest assembly.  We brought items of cupboard food in for the food bank.

During our 'free drawing session' this morning the children thought about what they could draw for harvest.  We had lovely pictures of carrots, apple trees and fruit.

In phonics we looked at the letter C and learn the poem to help us write it - All around the caterpillar'

The children used the letters which they had learnt so far to start thinking about making words and reading words.

In table time the children used the poem to help them practise writing the letter c and they also wrote some simple words with the c sound.

Following on from the children interest in flower - since the Mountbattens tea party the children looked at the different parts of a flower.  They correctly ordered the parts, stem, leaf, flower and root.  They even talked about what each of the part was for.

This afternoon we had the story - Peter Rabbit - The children really enjoyed this story and we talked lots about how different vegetables grow and whether Peter did the right thing, and whether we felt sorry for Peter in the end or not!
