Today we had a lot to think about because Her Majesty The Queen had passed away. We had a question and answer session to work out a few tricky ideas, such as what does died mean? and what does the Queen do? and what happens after you die. The children listened and asked some brilliant questions.
After a story about Stanley the fish (because it looked like Ralph's drawing he brought of a fish he had made with his blow pens at home) We learnt a new action song to warm up our bodies. This was about being an astronaut and getting into a rocket, we had to stretch and crouch and count down ready for blast off, as well as remembering out helmet!
For table jobs, the children showed me that they could sort 3d shapes not only by colour but by shape as well.
They all listened to instructions on drawing the Queen and drew beautiful pictures of her These have been mounted onto black card and will be coming home later as a keepsake for the children.
The children then learnt a technique with the playdough where they used a pencil to make eyes and mouth marks.
We finished off our collages of us in our school uniform by making hand prints and drawing our legs and shoes. The children learnt lots of techniques in this activity such as drawing, printing, cutting, paining block colours, sticking, and layering.
This afternoon we had a play on the astro turf which as great fun and then the children sat down in the hall for a special memorial assembly about the Queen.
