Friday 23rd September

In phonics we learnt about the sound n and looked at how similar it looked to m and how our mouth looks different when we say the sounds.

The children had a go at writing the new sound in a tray of rice and then on their paper.

We had a big chat about our trip that we are going to have to Newtown Creek and how there will be different birds there to the ones we see in the school grounds.  The children explained what other animals they may see at the river side and they all had a go at drawing a river adding to it all of the different animals they may be able to see there.

In PE the children had a go at extending their activity from last week where they looked at how to act out different animals by thinking more about monkeys - they looked at how monkeys can walk along very thing branches in the wild and how they swing through the trees.  Then in the hall they had two benches of different thicknesses and had a go at walking and balancing along them and then learning how to safely dismount them.  The children had a lovely time in the school hall and used the school gym equipment safely and confidently.

In the afternoon the weather wasn't that great so the children explored the fine motor resources and the loose parts and chattered about what they had learnt that week, they also started to explore the junk modelling area and one of them even managed to make a dolls house!
