Friday 16th September

In our Reception class the children have a handful of exercise books which we fill as the year goes on.  Among these is a book we call 'Busy book' and in here we put all of the children independent pieces of work - for example - it they were to write a shopping list whilst playing in the kitchen area we would add this, or if they have drawn a picture all by themselves without being told what to draw it would go in here.  So today we explained to the children the purpose of the book and got them to think about what they could add to their book.  The children used the art resources around the room to make pictures of their choice.  We had pictures of nanny's , pictures of flowers and pictures of beaches!

In phonics the children remembered the sounds m,a,s and learnt their new sound d.

During table jobs the children were able to practice writing their new letter.

Because it was Friday the children had their first PE lesson in the hall, they played a game to walk up where they had to be different animals and move around the hall like a rabbit, three children were then chosen to be the foxes and had to chase the others around.  Later in the lesson the children learnt what it meant to 'find their own space' and then had a go at practicing being different animals using their bodies to move in different ways.

In the afternoon we had our first celebration assembly - our class won the attendance award and Callie got star of the week for being so caring towards the chickens.
